Last Thursday in Lúa's class they voted for Obama or for Romney. Apparently there are only two candidates. Actually, you only hear or read about those two candidates in mainstream media. But there are more -without a chance-.
When she arrived home she proudly said: "I voted for Obama!" There you are. I thought that by doing this type of simulations they will get a good idea of who the parents will vote for or at least sympathize with. It is a mini political survey. And she even knew about Romney!
The thing is that here they feel the need to "train" the kids from early on about voting since not many people vote. Well, they are on the right track as they convinced 6 year-olds that voting is cool and now they look forward to turning 16 (Lúa said, 18, I said) so they can vote... at least Lúa does. She says she only needs to add a 1 in front of her 6 to get to 16. Easy. I had to explain her that she can only vote in Spain because she is Spanish not American, to which she said: "Fine, then I'll vote for Obama in Spain!" Well, Obama should be proud to have such a fan!
I couldn't resist the temptation to ask her who the other kids had voted for and she said that the vote was secret, so she didn't know. Damm, I couldn't find out what's the tendency in her class...
Next day she had computer lab and this is what she did:

Lúa ha votado por primera vez
El jueves pasado volvíó del cole y nos contó con mucho orgullo que había votado a Obama. Estaba contenta, como si hubiera hecho una cosa bien. Parece ser que hicieron un simulacro de las elecciones que son mañana martes y hablaron, o les hablaron, de los dos candidatos, porque aquí solo se habla de los dos candidatos, aunque hay más, pero sin chance (como dicen los mexicanos de por aquí). Deben ser como las brujas gallegas, "Habelos, hailos".
Nosotros pensamos que era una manera inteligente de saber o tantear lo que votarían los padres, o al menos de saber por quién simpatizan y así conocer el color mayoritario (republicano o demócrata) del cole. Le dan un toque educativo y les sale una (mini) encuesta electoral en regla. (¿Típica desconfianza "europea" por nuestra parte? Podría ser.)
Pero hay otra una razón lógica detrás de todo esto: quieren "entrenar" desde muy jóvenes a los niños para que luego cuando crezcan voten. Aquí muy poca gente vota. Pues van por el buen camino porque, si Lúa es representativa, el jueves convencieron a un puñado de enanos de 6 años de que votar mola. No solo eso, ella empezó a fantasear con la edad y decía que solo tenía que añadir un 1 delante del 6 para hacer 16 y que así podía votar (aunque por lo que sé aquí se vota a los 18, pero es posible que algo cambiara en la edad de voto). Le tuve que explicar que ella puede votar en España y dijo que entonces votaría por Obama en España. Está empeñada. Obama debería estar contento de tener una fan tan entregada.
Por mi parte, yo no pude resistir la tentanción de preguntarle a Lúa a quién habían votado sus compañeros. Yo sí que quería saber cuál era la tendencia en su clase... Pero el voto era secreto. Un simulacro en regla...
Hasta que llegó el día siguiente y en la clase de informática, hizo lo que veís en la foto: un póster pro Obama con falta de ortografía incluida (mezcla un poco las "b" y "d").
... ¡allá va el secreto de voto!
